1. Grab a Winter Cupcake from Smallcakes Cupcakery and Creamery
Smallcakes is well-loved in Lubbock for their fresh and homemade cupcakes and ice cream, often served up a variety of innovative flavors including cinnamon roll cupcakes (with a mini cinnamon roll on top, yes please) and sweet potato pie cupcakes!
When the Christmas season rolls around, there’s no doubt that Smallcakes is going to be serving up some equally festive Christmas cupcakes and winter-themed treats, and stopping by is a fantastic way to support small businesses as well as eat your feelings with their delicious baked goods.
It’s also one of the best things to do in Lubbock with kids!
2. Texas Tech Carol of the Lights
Usually an in-person event, the Texas Tech Carol of the Lights is one of the best things to do in Lubbock for Christmas with its festive atmosphere, beautiful carols, and twinkling lights that pierce the Texas night sky with their color.
In 2020, the in-person event is cancelled, but that doesn’t mean it’s all over!
The virtual Texas Tech Carol of the Lights will take place on Tuesday, December 1st at 6:30pm for anyone to watch, and you can see both new features and a compilation of year’s past.
In addition, you can drive by to see the lights anytime from December 1st 2020 to January 3rd, 2021.
3. Miracles Christmas Parade
Traditionally one of the biggest and most festive parades in West Texas, the Miracles Christmas Parade features everything from dance groups to community clubs to marching bands and is a great way to get the whole family out.
This parade will not be taking place in 2020, but the organizers look forward to bringing it back for 2021.
4. Meet Santa at Holland Gardens
The best garden center in Texas is getting festive with their winter weekends where Santa is coming to visit (every weekend at Holland Gardens until Christmas).

5. Make a Christmas Sign at Board and Brush Lubbock
Board and Brush is the best way to spend a festive winter’s night in Lubbock with your friends or family, participating in one of their woodworking and crafting workshops.
At Board and Brush, an expert guide will walk you through how to make your own woodworking project, and during the holiday season, this ranges from Christmas signs that say things like “Joy” or “Merry” to adorable Christmas tree count downs.
This is such a fun way to socialize, and you can even book a private event if you want your own special holiday party.
6. Second Baptist Church Christmas Concert
Tis the season for Christmas concerts and a range of beautiful voices shouting out their favorite holiday tunes and worship songs!
Join Second Baptist Church for their Christmas concert, taking place on Sunday, December 6th at 6:30pm at Second Baptist Church in Lubbock.
The event will be safe and socially distanced, and their team is really looking forward to sharing the reason of the season with you and your family.
7. Trivia Night and Special Events at Cricket’s Draft House and Grill
From regular karaoke and trivia nights to special holiday events, Cricket’s Draft House and Grill in Lubbock is the place to be over the holidays whether you want to celebrate the season with friends over drinks or participate in their specially themed nights that tend to center around the holidays.

Get Fresh Air at Adventure Park
It’s not technically a Christmas event, but we’ll give this one as a bonus: Adventure Park, the number one ropes and zipline course in Lubbock and the surrounding areas, is opening these sections for a few Saturdays before Christmas, as well as on December 26th (a great way to work off all of that Christmas turkey!)
On other days, you can still enjoy the gameroom, go-karts, bumper cars, mini golf and so much more.
